HORMONE TESTING

Why Saliva Hormone Testing vs. Blood Hormone Testing?

Most importantly, hormones cannot be accurately evaluated or monitored through the blood.  Hormones collect on the red blood cells, then release into surrounding tissue, not into the blood.

Excessive phyto- or plant estrogens often found in anti-aging creams such as Retin A, as well as certain food products high in phyto-estrogens such as soy; cannot be measured accurately in blood due to the binding of the lipid or fat soluble molecule which cleaves to the surface of the RBC.

Why We Use Certified Laboratories

High end labs are CLIA certified, which means their lab is continuously inspected and assessed.  If found to be calibrated evenly with the two top laboratories in Europe as well as one in New York, they are given a stamp of approval and blessed by the FDA.

Specific labs participate in what are termed “Peer Review” surveys.  The “Review” is voluntary and expensive and is administered by reputable testing labs in New York and Germany.  Each participating lab is tested using identical unknown samples monthly to compare efficacy, accuracy and calibration exactitude.  If all test results are excellent, the lab is given a monthly “grade”. It is important to use a lab which consistently receives high monthly grades.

Saliva hormone testing is approved by the FDA.  It is, therefore, the opinion of the FDA that these tests hold legitimate value.
