"Can You Answer The Question: What's your Dosha?"

Hot coastal healthcare trend finally hits town with the opening of Healing Quest Center:
Chicago's first full service Ayurvedic health facility

Chicago, IL - March 10, 2003 - Listen carefully: you'll hear "what's your dosha?" amongst the cognoscenti's coffee shop chatter on hip trends. It may be new to Chicago, but it's actually a reference to Ayurvedic practices, a 5,000 year-old preventive-based healing modality from India that's taken off as the hottest healing modality on the coasts, popularized by stars like fitness fanatic and single mom Demi Moore. Those in the know are flocking to the new Healing Quest Center, Chicago's premier and only full-service Ayurvedic-based holistic health facility.

To celebrate their Grand Opening, Healing Quest will launch a series of lunch-hour events, the first one entitled: "What's your Dosha? An Introduction to Ayurvedic Health," scheduled for Friday March 28, 11 AM - 1 PM. Two subsequent events are scheduled for April and May. On a tour of the facility, visitors will get up close and personal as some of the city's preeminent practitioners describe their individual healing methods.

"Dosha refers to specific mind-body types, which are divided into vata, pitta and kapha. Discovering our mind-body type and understanding our unique physical and psychological constitution gives us the knowledge we need to stay healthy," says Nutritionist Deborah Arneson, founder and co-owner of Healing Quest Center. "We can use that knowledge to make simple changes in our daily living practices that can positively improve our overall health and that is what Ayurveda is all about. We opened Healing Quest in River North to share one of the world's most time-tested healing modalities with Chicagoans."

Healing Quest is the fulfillment of a dream for Arneson, 50, who today is the perfect poster-child for her business. Arneson, a former model and paramedic was once overweight and seriously compromised health-wise. Her quest to find an alternative to the hysterectomy doctors wanted her to undergo at age 26 resulted in her leaving modeling to pursue a career in preventive-based natural healing. Her personal quest for healing inspired Arneson to envision a "one-stop shop for health," where individuals can learn to prevent illnesses by living an aware healthy life.

Arneson and her daughter, Colon Care Educator and Specialist Christina Pfeifer, 34, combined their two successful practices, Nutrition Consultants, Inc. (20 years) and Colon Care, Inc. (7 years), respectively, to form Healing Quest. They moved their Chicago offices to a larger facility, 920 N Franklin, Suite 402, and expanded their staff from 7 to 17. Additional practitioners were hired in healing disciplines including Ayurveda/Panchakarma, Holistic Internal Medicine and Reiki, Ayurvedic Esthetics, Colon Care, Acupuncture and Clinical Massage. The team members come from as far away as Southern India.

In addition to being an Ayurvedic-based practice, Healing Quest is a truly holistic center. This means that the practitioners focus on treating the whole person, collaborating with colleagues in all the different healing disciplines for the betterment of each client as a whole!
